Our house was originally a farmstead with metre-thick stone walls, which with great vision and hard work became the wonderful home we now live in and can offer to our guests. Lake Maggiore is comfortable all year round with its own microclimate that is perfect for residents, guests, and golfing.

If you like markets, there is a famous market on Wednesdays in Luino, which is renowned throughout Europe with coachloads of visitors coming from as far afield as Holland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The market offers a variety of goods, and is particularly famous for its leather goods and fresh local produce. It is the largest open air market in Northern Italy.

Activities (on site and in local area)
There is a page on golfing here with information on and contact details for the surrounding golf courses. The local area is also well known for its excellent mountain biking (see http://www.lakemaggiore.50g.com/en/mountain-biking-lake-maggiore.htm), stunning walks, rich wildlife, and wonderful food. For those who enjoy food, the area is full of wonderful eating places, ranging from gelaterias with huge displays of mouth-watering home-made ice-cream, to tiny hostelries serving delicious crisp pizzas baked in the "forno al legno" (great wood-fired ovens), to a significant number of Michelin-starred restaurants in the area.

The apartment is in the heart of a popular
golfing region, with eleven golf courses within striking distance. Lake Maggiore hosts a huge variety of water sports, including windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, rowing, diving, fishing, and water ski-ing.

Other activities in the zone include horse-riding and bungee jumping (the highest bungee jump in the world is in the area). The region is also renowned for the international film and music festivals in Locarno, the La Scala opera house in Milan, and the countless smaller concerts in the area.

For those of you who are chocoholics there are two chocolate factories nearby.

Milan is just one hour away so really easy to visit for a day's shopping at the world's great fashion houses, or to sightsee and tour the museums. There are ferries on the Lake for sightseeing tours and access to the other side of the lake with its pretty villages and towns. This area is also world famous for its beautiful gardens accessible to the public for a small fee. Some accessible by ferry and some by road.

In the summer there are also regular fireworks displays over the lake, which can be viewed either from the comfort of the holiday studio flat here at Casa Lunga, or down by the waterside for a closer view. Local festas range from wine and beer festivals, to pumpkin and roast chestnut festivals, agricultural fairs (complete with donkey races between competing villages!), and international choir competitions.

For those who enjoy dancing, there is also an active salsa scene for all ages in Luino and in the area.
